Juneiker Castillo
I’m Juneiker. I write code, build projects out of curiosity, and spend a good part of my time learning languages. This page isn’t a list of reasons to hire me. It’s a way to share, honestly, how I got here and what has my attention now.
I didn’t start out studying computer science
My first real encounter with programming happened while I was studying Electrical Engineering. During my third semester, I took a computer science and programming course. At first, the theory left me fairly indifferent. That changed when we moved on to the practical work and I realized that behind the programs I had used since childhood were people writing instructions and solving problems.
I remember thinking, “So this is how the programs I use on the computer are made.” It may sound like a simple thought, but it was a discovery for me. Computers and video games had always been around me; for the first time, I could look beyond the screen.
Programming came more naturally to me than other subjects. I enjoyed breaking a problem down, understanding its parts, and finding a solution through code. During my sixth semester, I had to leave university because of family circumstances. My formal education ended there, but my interest in programming didn’t.
I kept learning on my own through tutorials, documentation, and projects. It wasn’t an orderly path, and there was no perfect plan. I moved forward because I wanted to understand a little more and because building something that hadn’t existed before continued to feel satisfying.
What I’m doing now
Over time, I focused on web development. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript gave me a place where logic, design, and usefulness could meet. I care about an interface working well, but I also want it to feel clear and considered.
I currently work on personal projects. They include LingText, LingVocab, and PinSpanish. They represent the kind of work I want to keep doing: following my own ideas, practicing, experimenting, and learning while building something real.
I don’t want to present a career filled with clients or spectacular projects that don’t exist. I’m building my path through personal work, and this page is also an attempt to show that process without embellishing it.
Learning is part of my life, too
Languages are an important part of my daily life. I like the feeling of starting with almost no understanding and gradually recognizing words, structures, and ideas that once seemed inaccessible. There is something in that process that I also find in programming: moving forward through curiosity, practice, and patience.
Away from code and languages, I enjoy series, anime, and books. They are different ways of encountering stories, worlds, and perspectives beyond my own. They aren’t separate from my work; they are part of how I observe, learn, and find ideas.
I’m still finding my direction
I don’t have a perfect statement about the way I work or a definitive list of professional values. I’m still figuring out what I want to build, what I can do better, and where I want to take my projects.
What I do know is that I want to learn deeply, make things of my own, and be honest about where I am. This website brings both sides of me together: the person who learns languages, reads, and watches anime, and the developer who turns curiosity into projects.
